really disappointed fed lost, wanted him to break all the records but in all honesty, unless nadal gets injured fed is finished at the top level. he can't
beat nadal when it comes down to it as nadal is just better and physically superior. its sad to see a great champion like this, but time to move over and
worship nadal and where he has taken tennis. Scary that he's only 22 and can improve so much. Djokovic may be able to challenge him in a few years but
others.....??? Murray i do not believe has 'it' but may pick 1 up if there's injuries.
great match though, agreed. |

Yeah, it was a fantastic match. I think it's a little premature to say Federer is finished. While he's never going to beat Nadal in the French, I think
today proved he can still compete on grass. His serve is still a brilliant weapon, look at the number of aces he made versus Nadal. Yes, Nadal is amazingly
powerful and consistent in the baseline rallys, but he's not invincible. He gave Federer lots of opportunities, but for whatever reason Fed just
couldn't take them, squandering break points and mis-hitting on second serve returns. His main problem against Nadal seems to be more mental than anything.
I think he might bounce back from this suprisingly well. I mean, the worst has happened now, he's lost at Wimbledon, ended his unbeaten run on grass, and
blown his chance of beating Borg's record. That might actually relieve the pressure on him a little, and let him come back with a more positive state of
mind, as the hunter rather than the hunted. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back wins at wimbledon next year. Bump this thread in 12 months
time!

Yeah, I agree with what's been said here. Amazing match to watch. They make it look so easy. I'm glad Nadal won - should have do it in straight sets
really - but its a testament to Fed that he pulled out some great shots on the big points.

Maximizing apparently (I do have a dictionary). Though admittedly without one I would have said maximising

2 straight masters shields for Andy by the looks of it, can't believe how much he has improved since getting his ass handed to him by Rafa at Wimbledon.
Did not think he could be this good, it really is a big four and on any given day anyone can beat anyone. The only thing left for him to do is do it on clay,
if I was his advisors I'd get him into some small tournaments early on and get some quarter, semi results and try and replicate that in the masters. Cant
wait for today knowing it should be pretty easy, 3 and 2 i think.

Bonus.
Didn't get in the first 5000 myself. I'd definitely
go; my brother probably would too, if you can get enough tickets.
Edit: Four British women into the Open! They're definitely on the up; if only the men could show the same improvement.
