I've noticed a definite leaning towards Everton in recent years from the Currie Monster. Benitez is the man for the job. This is the best Liverpool squad since 1990. Mourinho? Charm? Funny. When you beat Juventus, Chelsea and Milan with the
likes of Anthony Le Tallec and Djimi Traore in your team, you have every right to be arrogant, and to be considered a tactical genius.

i also think there's a significant difference between rafa now and rafa then. rafa now is under pressure to perform. this is his team. if he doesn't
bring a league title to liverpool how would he be remembered? as a very good manager but not one who restored the glory days to liverpool. the numerous
comments this season about little teams etc etc i mean come on. grow some balls and go classic fm tactic of 4-2-4 :-)
seriously though i think it is a shame. over the last 2 or so years he's become more and more spiteful and i do not like to see this emanating from a team i once (half) supported. i suppose in the same way as mourinho did for his last few months at chelsea. i don't know what liverpool's solution is. but i do know that with rafa there i will be supporting everton far more than liverpool. who knows, maybe they'll even try to get moyes hahahahahahaha i appreciate what you are saying that rafa's net spend is similar to spurs or newc but to be fair, no offence to you 2, spurs and newc are a joke. ashley has potential to sort newc out if the gay geordies get off his back but i doubt it will happen and he will leave. and why spurs didn't stick with jol is utterly incomprehensible. as i say, lower league football, that's where it's at. |

so ultimately, where viv's overenthusiasm and mr t's understated but fiercly stubborn pro liverpool propaganda have failed (unlike for Mr O), rafa has
succeeded and turned me, once a semi-supporter, against liverpool.

rather than wade in, i'm going to dip my feet in and agree with the 'little clubs' snipe turning me against him somewhat, is it because he is frustrated? Hope he gets the 2 attacking players he needs to give the creativity required for success. Man Utd have 4 creative forwards, Liverpool have 2 and need 2 more IMO and then you will get the best out of the team. Finally, Alonso should play every game as he could be one of them. Would like to see a 4th team in there winning titles. |

i dont think its right that he should go before the end of the season, after all he's still one of the favourites for the champions league. if he can turn
around the title from here then he's liverpool's greatest ever manager. hope he does for my friends sakes.

Benitez may not win the title, but it won't be for lack of managerial ability; it'll be the fault of the board. Look at the most successful managers in the Premiership - Mr. Ferugson and Arsene Wenger - and the support they receive from their employers. Rafa has certainly been given finances, his spending power would be the envy of most managers, but he doesn't have the power he craves in other crucial areas. The Gareth Barry saga is a perfect example of this. Liverpool had the money, they (the powers that be) just didn't want to spend it on another midfielder. Can you imagine Fergie or Wenger being overruled like this? The Academy is another issue. It simply isn't producing the players it should be, and Rafa wants change. Some might say that the manager should concentrate on coaching and training the team, but the man wants to take Liverpool forward and he can't do this whilst others are making the sorts of decisions that will shape the future of the club. I have no idea how a club can be run with anybody else other than the manager deciding upon how the budget will be spent. Give him whatever he wants and he'll bring back the glory days, buy him another lamp when he asks for a table, and it'll be adios. |

loving the whole 'injuries to torres cost us the title' milarkey. no it's 'i'm a dumb cunt and sold one of the best strikers in the league
to get my own way cos i'm a stubborn bastard which has cost us the title'. don't see that in the papers. he put his personal power struggle with
the board above the team's chances of success. doesn't deserve time of day as far as i'm concerned and i too one day hope liverpool get a manager
they deserve to help them challenge united.

yeah you're right, if you look at the construct of the sentence logically shearer is implying that he'd be upset if they stayed up and he didn't
get credit
unfortunately i'm guessing thats more to do with him messing his words up rather than being some massive egomaniac though :-) he probably meant to say something along the lines of 'if they went down and i had done nothing i'd regret it'. |
