What films are you looking forward to in 2009? Total Film have a run-down of the likely blockbusters called the 49 films that will define 2009. Personally, my most anticpated of these are:

My most anticipated films would be Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Brüno, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Watchmen. Avatar sounds
interesting, too.

For me Watchmen, Wolverine, Avatar, Harry Potter 6, T4, Inglorious Basterds, Public Enemies and... Star Trek which shockingly has my vote for the best looking trailer I've seen of the lot! |

HP6, LVK and T/F2 - I didn't like T/F1 when I first saw it but saw it again on sky and its as stupid and pointless as I remembered, shia le twat was still
there and the robots were cringeworthy however I had forgotten hot hot Fox was...so T/F2 will drag me to the cinema with my ipod on, staring and slobbering at
Foxy (sadly not foxy knoxy as she's in jail).
Watchmen i'm intigued by as I've not read or heard of this comic before so it'll be funny to see what the fuss is about. The Che films will hopefully kick ass, the Daniel Craig jew film looks suprisingly good although being Craig it will no doubt be self indulgent, smug shit, and worryingly the Cruise effort at a Nazi film wets my whistle, although again as with Craig I bet its total rusty balls. Slumdog millionaire seems a good concept from what I've read, Benjy Button because Brad Pitt's cycle of good film / bad film / good film / bad film is due a 'good', Inglorious Barstewards because...well heck I just think it'll be funny. For cheap laughs I cant wait for Sex Drive, Role Models and any other films of similar ilk. Out of curiosity The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus is a must see. As is RDJ's turn as SH - surely not even RDJ can make this work?? If he can he's the new Depp. But lets face it I'll be seeing most films anyway

You should try reading Watchmen (if you got some HMV or Zavvi [get well soon] vouchers it's worth a punt as they seem to be selling it). It might even
convert you to reading "graphic novels" although you'll never read a better one, or in fact that many that come close. That said, the film is so
hyped up now it can only disappoint.
Does seem a bit weird reading about all the new films coming in 2009. Gives you some optimism and you almost start to look forward to them all because they all sound great. But lets face the facts, most are going to be mediocore drivel. But lets face it I'll be seeing most films anyway

Stu, what did you think of the acting in The Spirit. A big deal was made of how crap people were in the press, but I kinda thought it fitted in with the film.
Scarlet's character was generally not bothered, but then again I'm not sure I've seen a film where I have seen her acting chops tested. She's
generally eye-candy. I remember some fairly gratuitous shots in The Spirit

Mark, I thought Scarlett did the part perfectly in all honesty the one positive of the film. I'm not normally her biggest fan but, she was funny and
believeable in the role. Mendes was probably equally as good just not as 'wow' as SJ. Jackson was his usual OTT and I just cannot look at him now
without being reminded of those awful virgin media adverts - he should be muted
As for the main guy...well I think he suffered in my mind for being the main man in a below average film. Nothing good, nothing bad, did the job ok....well you get the picture. |

Rating films is so 2008
Not sure why I've changed to or  but it makes films more enjoyable to not rate them out of 5...i'm trying out eithner enjoying them...or not with
the odd  for Kate Hudson!!!
Interesting to see people bothering with my format of last year, rate, sentance, colour etc. Its too much of a hassle to do IMO, plus with the films discussion now in place I dont need to rate or comment. ps - daz's lights comment has not received the  it deserves!

, there's something dismissive about saying "The Wrestler isn't a wrestling film" as if serious films can't be
made about pro-wrestling. What about Beyond the Mat or Wrestling with
Shadows? As much as I think the term "dark" is too vague and bad descriptively, if it can be applied anywhere, then it is to Beyond the Mat and Wrestling with Shadows.
As for awarding six or seven stars, what if you see a film worth three stars then see a film exactly twice as good (or more)? Don't buy this "twice as good"? What if you see a film worth five stars then see a film much better (by "better" meaning more than the difference between four star films and five star films)?

Mark you're 100% right, I enjoy reading everyone's reasons for their ratings as I did last year, I think i'm just being difficult and petty in all
honesty, as by supporting Newcastle I just want to be doing what everyone else isn't
Though I have had some issues with 'rating' films as I'm sat in the cinema thinking is this a 3 or a 4 rather than enjoying the film itself. I'm hoping this allows me to enjoy films more... Daz - wrestling films are not normally my thing, saw beyond the mat and it made it all a bit too real for me. I'm still immature and like the fakeness of wwe and tna and the controversial storylines and characters. I envisage this is how people would imagine a wrestling film to be like, and lets face it its an immature 'hobby' that we have (Me, Matt and Daz) and I can understand adults distancing themselves from it. Not sure if I had a point at all but....erm the wrestler seems like it should be ok but i hope it doesnt ruin TLC matches for me
